About Me: A Story Of Growth and A Lifetime Opportunity
I am Johanna O. Olivas, a 4th-year Bachelor of Secondary Education major in English student at Capiz State University - Burias Campus, Philippines. As someone passionate about education and cultural exchange, I always seek opportunities to grow and expand my understanding of education. Being selected as one of the participants in the 10th Batch Student Teacher Exchange Program in Indonesia was truly an incredible experience. It allowed me not only to develop my teaching skills but also to immerse myself in a new culture and educational system.
As a pre-service teacher, this experience was both challenging and rewarding. Teaching at SMP Negeri 4 Pekalongan for three weeks gave me firsthand experience of Indonesia’s educational system and classroom dynamics. I was able to interact with students from different backgrounds and adapt to a new learning environment. It was also a privilege to work alongside Indonesian educators and learn from their teaching strategies and approaches.
My journey in Indonesia was truly unforgettable and worth sharing with everyone. I had the chance to explore the country’s rich culture, visit historical sites, and experience traditional cuisine. More than that, through this journey, I was able to form meaningful connections with new friends who made my stay even more special. The lessons and experiences I gained from this program will stay with me as I continue my journey as an educator.
