What is the Sea-Teacher Project?
The SEA-Teacher Project, also known as the Pre-Service Student Teacher Exchange in Southeast Asia, aimed to improve the quality education in Southeast Asia. This program provides pre-service student teachers from universities in Southeast Asia with the opportunity to gain teaching experience through practicum in schools across different countries within Southeast Asia. The program allows future educators to develop their teaching skills, adapt to diverse educational systems.
The program is open to 3rd and 4th-year students majoring in subjects such as Mathematics, Science, English, Preschool Education, Economics, Physical Education, Elementary/Primary Education, and Social Science. The program runs for one month, with student teachers taking on progressively assigned roles and responsibilities each week. In addition, the SEA-Teacher Project fosters cross-cultural exchange, allowing students to experience different cultures and build lifelong friendships.

My Host University: Universitas Pekalongan
My host university in Indonesia is Universitas Pekalongan (UNIKAL), a private university located in Pekalongan, Central Java. Established in 1982, UNIKAL has grown into a significant educational institution in the region, offering a wide range of undergraduate and postgraduate programs. The university is known for its strong emphasis on research and innovation, as well as its collaborations with various industries and institutions. These partnerships provide students with valuable practical exposure and internship opportunities.
Through its partnership with Capiz State University, I was given the opportunity to participate in the SEA-Teacher Project. My experience as a student exchange participant in Indonesia was invaluable. With Universitas Pekalongan’s strong focus on education, I was able to deepen my understanding in the field of education with the guidance and support of my mentors and cooperating teachers.
